Rammey Island

About

North London Scout District has a waterside campsite at Rammey Marsh near Waltham Abbey. The site boasts a fairly large hut with bunk beds.

Rammey Island offers a range of water activities such as kayaking and rowing and is fantastic for patrol camps and DofE expeditions. It’s a brilliant place to have a go at water activities as the water on the River Lea is mostly slow-moving, allowing Scouts to learn at the right place.

As well as camping and water activities the site is ideal for hikes and you are close to the orienteering course in Lee Valley Regional Park or a visit to the local farm to see the animals for younger children. The Royal Gunpowder Mills are also nearby.

Rammey Island is also close to the Herts Young Mariners water activity centre: Rammey Marsh Lock, Lea Road, Waltham Abbey, EN9 1AL
